Dior Vernis #338 Mirage

Personally, I have the impression that Dior improved it's nail polish formula since its release last year, as this last purchase of mine is promising. This winter season 2015, I went for a colour I have never wore before and it is from Dior's 2014 Spring collection. I am talking about the #338 Mirage nail polish which is a warm purple with a hint of fuchsia tone that reminds of a classical colour of an orchid.

But let me first tell you about this nail polish formula. It is an advanced formula that gives you a gel effect  feeling and a long-wearing shine. A precision brush applies the ideal amount of polish allowing for a smooth application, vibrant colour intensity, and a perfect creamy finish. I wear it for one week already (with a base and a top coat) and it still looks good.

It is a cream polish with no shimmer effect, which I prefer for this kind of colour. The finish is creamy and opaque with two coats as swatched on the photo below.

The colour of #338 Mirage is a fuchsia purple, a warm colour, ready to wear in all seasons. It is also called an African violet of purple shade. Depending on the light, the colour might look more as flashy purple or more as dark purple. The photos here are taken with a flash, so the colour looks a bit more flashy than it is in real.

Dior Addict Lipstick - n° 553 Smile

For Fall 2015, Dior lanched a new collection of lipsticks and matching nail polishes, advertised by Jennifer Lawrence, with a wide range of shades that simply it is difficult to choose from. There are 44 shades in total (some of them very similar to one another), but Dior has chosen 4 must have shades with its matching vernis (some in limited edition) to best show the collection.

The new Dior Addict Lipstick with its new formula is just amazing, featuring a hydra-gel topcoat and a triple oil complex formulation that promise a plump, moisturizing, and shiny finish. I could even say that it looks like a tinted lip balm or kind of a form of a hybrid lipstick.

The packaging of the new Dior Addict Lipstick is very similar to the previous generation, but slightly slimmer and all in silver. I like it, as it is original and typically Dior, but I still prefer the packaging of Chanel Rouge Coco Shine.

I chose n° 553 Smile, one of the 4 must haves that represent best this collection. It is a soft warm pinky nude shade that creates an illuminating, natural effect on the lips, a real mirror shine.  It has the shine of a gloss but in a lipstick form. It applies easily and the hydra-gel core gives a real effect of a lipstick with a topcoat. It provides comfort while wearing it because of the oil complex formula at the core (where the CD logo is at the swatched photo) that improves moisturization of the lips.
n° 553 Smile looks more flachy in the swatched photo with the packaging, that on the swatched photo with the lips, which is the case in day light as well. But the color also depends on your natural lip color. I like the shade, it is what I love to wear everyday that completes the natural look I want to have. It gives the face a natural sheer with a tint of color. It is not much pigmented, so it gives the same effect whether you put a lot, or a very little, just with one glide, you have the color as it is.
All in all, I like the color and the formula, but at the end of the day, the question remains, is it a lip balm, a lipstick or all in one?

DIOR Vernis #294 Lady

#294 Lady is one of the three new nail polish shades from the Dior Kingdom of Colors Spring 2015 Collection including also: #660 Glory, a red/pink summer flashy shade and Dior Top Coat Eclosion, a funcky top coat that looks like sprinkles including pastel green, blue, yellow and pink shades.

I love nude shades and have a collection of it :) But eveyone is so different and own, it needs just one hint of something to make it different. Well, in one word #294 Lady is a pink nude shade. Although not a classical nude, as it is not a classical pastel pink shade. There is also a hint of light lavander or mauve I would say, which might be difficult to notice on the photos, but when you look at it on your nails, you'll see what I am talking about. The color might take a different shade in day/sunlight and in natural indoors light. In sunlight, it shows a pink nude, but in natural light it is more of a dusty nude where you notice more the hint of mauve.

What I also like about this nail polish is its creamy finish which suites the color. I put two coats on the photos to obtain a perfect opaque finish. Its a nude that will flatter most skin tones and that you can wear all year long in moments when you need a sophisticated nude shade. It lasts around a week, but having put a base and a top coat.
